Best Time to Visit Thailand
The best time to visit Thailand is generally November–March. This season-by-season guide covers peak, shoulder and low season, the weather you can expect, the festivals that fill hotels and what to pack.
Weather in Thailand
Tropical. The cool dry season is the most comfortable, March–May is very hot, and the monsoon brings heavy but often short afternoon downpours. The Gulf and Andaman coasts have opposite rain patterns, so one is usually dry.
Peak, shoulder and low season
Peak season runs November–February (cool, dry season), with the highest flight and hotel demand. Shoulder season (March–May, hot but quieter) offers similar conditions with thinner crowds. Low season (June–October (southwest monsoon)) is the cheapest, with less predictable weather or reduced opening hours at some attractions.
Festivals and holidays
Songkran (mid-April) and Loy Krathong (November) are the biggest festivals and the busiest domestic travel weeks.
What to pack for Thailand
Light breathable clothing, rain layer, and modest cover for temples.
